Special Showings Defined

SECOND SHOWING - Held the second Friday of every month, this is a day set aside for everyone to bring their own anime. Please keep it episode length (no more than 45 min.) so that everyone gets a chance to show what they brought. We show things in the order the people arrived, and wrap back to the beginning if time allows. You may show any episode you like in a series; you are not required to start at episode 1. If you arrive without having brought anything, you still get your turn -- simply pick anything episode-length out of what we have available (my entire library is at your disposal).
MOVIE NIGHT - Held the last Friday of every month, this is a day set aside to watch movie-length anime. We used to have a movie slot, but it had to be retired as many of our members leave by about 10:30-11:00pm due to work obligations. As an intermission between movies on Movie Night, we discuss what 2 to 3 movies we would like to show the next month. Originally, we limited this to anime, animated US features, and Japanese cinema, but by popular demand, we've recently expanded the definition to include any movie of interest to fandom.
HALLOWEEN GORE-FEST - Held on Halloween Night (regardless of what day of the week it falls), this is the celebration of the anniversary of the initial founding of the Anime Heretics. Come costumed or not - your option. A big party with food, drinks, and plenty of atmosphere, we watch only gory, spooky, or other anime related to the supernatural. Nothing pornographic, though -- that's reserved for --
NEW YEAR'S EVE SLUMBER PARTY & HENTAIFEST - Held on New Year's Eve (again, regardless of which weekday it falls), the dress code is strictly pajamas or lingerie. If you do not have these to change into, you will be sent home. No one under 18 is allowed to the party, and no one under 21 is permitted to drink (we card). Attendees are expected to spend the night. Basically, we throw a bunch of pillows, beanbags, and blankets on the floor in front of the TV, and watch animated or Japanese cinema smut all night (or until everyone falls asleep).
PRE-KON BASH - Held the Thursday night before Project A-kon every year, this is when the Anime Heretics from out of town join the Arlington group for a party and spend the night before leaving for the convention early in the morning. Different every year, we've done such things as : chickenfighting in the livingroom, human pyramids, fan parody dubbing, swimming at the pool just outside, barbecue, convention highlights, and a lot more!
